Grief
is a natural process but we may be able to help one of your clients
or patients who is suffering from complicated or prolonged grief some
months after the event. It may be helpful for them to talk to someone
neutral who is outside their normal friends, family or work contacts.
You could help someone you are seeing professionally by
Informing them of the range of services that Norwich Cruse can provide
and offer them our local number 01603 219977 or the national Helpline
Number 0844 477 9400
Tell children or young people about the Cruse website rd4u.org.uk
and the freephone line for young people 0808 808 1677
Offer them Cruse leaflets, many of which are available free of charge
from us. If you would like some just telephone 01603 219977 and we will
send you some.
Take part in one of our training courses to increase knowledge and understanding
in this area
Please contact us yourself if you need to know more.
Professionals should be aware that:
Cruse does not initiate contacts. We do like to speak to the bereaved
person themselves, so that we can be sure that they actually want and
are ready for help. If someone finds it difficult to telephone, we are
quite happy to speak to you first and then for you to hand over the
phone….
Cruse offers a one to one initial assessment quickly where a bereaved
person can talk through their situation. It may be that we suggest others
routes to help which may be more appropriate or we may think that our
own one to one support would be beneficial. If the latter, they would
then go on to our short waiting list before being linked to their own
Cruse volunteer.
Cruse Bereavement Volunteers are skilful and well trained in understanding
bereavement but they may not be able to give appropriate support to
a patient who has other very complex mental health problems.
Cruse would not normally offer Cruse counselling at the same time to
someone already undergoing counselling from another source. |
